Staff report

The Jersey Shore Boca Super-Y League teams for the most part have wrapped up their seasons as three of Boca’s five SYL teams squared off against the Baltimore Bays at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County.

The club completed its fifth consecutive year in North America’s most competitive elite youth league.

The Boca Under 13s, who competed in the Super-Y League for the first time this year, lost to the Bays to end their season at 4-5-1. The Under 13s, coached by Kirk Pericciuoli, scored 23 goals and allowed 23 on the season. They finished eighth in the 11-team Mid-Atlantic Division.

Coach Bill Carroll and his Boca under 14 SYL team went 3-9 on the year after falling to the Bays. The team scored 18 goals and surrendered 48, finishing eighth in the SYL’s 10-team under 14 Mid-Atlantic Division.

The Boca Under 15 team, coached by Tom Gentz, has one game remaining against Baltimore. The team is 3-9 after falling to the Reading Rage, 6-2. Boca has been outscored, 37-27. It will finish ninth in the SYL’s 10-team under 15 Mid-Atlantic Division.

Gentz also coaches the Boca Under 16 team, which bested Baltimore, 4-1. The Boca Under 16s, who scored the most goals in their division (43) are second in the SYL’s 10-team under 16 Mid-Atlantic Division at 9-2-1 and are vying for a return trip to the SYL North American Finals, Tampa, Fla., in November as the Under 16 Mid-Atlantic Division second-place team.

If the Under 16s defeat the Chesapeake Athletic Club in their final regular season SYL game at the Manchester Soccer Complex later this month, they will secure an automatic trip to the SYL North American Finals in which they appeared last year in the under 15 age group.

Stanley Touze (16 goals, nine assists), Varlee Koon (five goals, eight assists) and Bryan Hutches (four goals, two assists) lead the Boca 16s in scoring this year. Touze and Koon were named to the Super Y-League Under 16 OPD Regional Pool last season.

The Boca Under 19 Super-Y League team went 4-8-0 in the SYL Metro Division, placing fifth among seven teams. The team scored 15 goals and allowed 37. It was coached by Wolf Finger.
