Boca U14s Over Northern VA-Improve to 6-3-0
July 21, 2001

The Boca U14 Super Y-League team squared off at Toms River North high school against the tough Northern Virginia Royals side on Saturday for the second time in one week.

Boca once again took charge and came out on top 3-2 in a very good match played by both sides.

The Boca U14s started the scoring in the 10th minute with a Kevin O’Connor unassisted goal. The Royals battled back and scored two goals in the 17th and 36th minutes of the match.

Jimmy Calabrese tied the game for Boca one minute later in the 37th minute assisted by O’Connor.

Then in the last minute of regulation time, Vinnie Cozzetta from Neptune City, stole a ball from a Royals defender about 30 yards out on the left side of the pitch. Cozzetta then went around another NVA defender and chipped a 20-yard shot over the Royals goalkeeper for the game winner.

Boca goalkeepers Mike McBride and Robert Blake combined for 14 saves in the net.

The Boca U14s improve to 6-3-0 and stay in the hunt for the division lead in the very competitive U14 Super Y-League Mid-Atlantic Division.
