Boca U18s Capture Inaugural Super Y-League Match
April 20, 2001

After months of planning, training and anticipation, the Jersey Shore Boca U18s took the pitch under the lights Friday night at Shelter Cove Park in Toms River in their first ever USL Super Y-League game. The result was a 3-0 shut out of a powerful New York Varsity squad which hails from Van Cortland Park in NY City.

Boca’s inaugural Super Y-League goal came in the 27th minute. Charlie Smith ripped a blast into the near corner after Ryan Trachman took a free kick from 20 yards which deflected off the post.

Trachman added a second goal in the 63rd minute after stripping a NY Varsity defender about 40 yards out. He then went around another defender and chipped an unassisted 25 yard shot over the head of the NY Varsity goalkeeper.

Boca finished the scoring in the 75th minute after Chris Doran slotted a perfect ball into space to a streaking Kris Cheeseman who finished with a low shot beyond the diving NY goalkeeper.

Chris Konopka posted his first Super Y-League shut-out in the net making 7 saves on the night.

Boca will continue their Super Y-League season on Friday night, April 27th, when all three Super Y-League teams (U18s, U16s & U14s) travel to Kean University to face the always colorful Ironbound Strikers.
