Jensen Earns NEC Player of the Week

Somerset, NJ – Sophomore Samantha Jensen (Ocean Gate, NJ/Central Regional) received Northeast Conference Player of the week this week, becoming the sixth Wagner player to earn NEC weekly accolades this season.rp_primary2_Jensen_Samantha_WSOC_12 Jensen had a four-goal weekend, scoring three goals in Wagner’s 5-3 victory over Sacred Heart Friday before tallying the Seahawks’ lone goal in a 2-1 setback to Saint Francis U. Against Sacred Heart, the team’s exchanged points, but Jensen came off the bench to propel the Seahawks ahead scoring the teams final three goals, including the game-winning goal.
Her first goal came in the 40th minute, allowing the Seahawks to take a 3-1 lead. In the second half, in a scramble on a corner kick, Jensen managed the ball, extending Wagner’s lead to 4-2. With just over two minutes to play, Jensen sealed the victory off a pass, scoring just outside the box.Jensen currently competes with Jersey Shore BOCA U23 Women in the MSSL Collegiate Level Summer League.
