The Boca U16 Super Y-League team squared-off against their cross-state rivals the South Jersey Barons in Winslow for their second meeting in seven days while the Boca U23s traveled to Mullica Hill for their final exhibition game before the MSSL regular summer season begins.

BOCA U23s – Mid-Atlantic Soccer Showcase League (0-0-0)
The Boca U23s traveled to Mullica Hill on Sunday afternoon and squared-off in a full 90 minute exhibition match in 90 degree heat against a South Jersey USASA Amateur Select side for their final tune-up before their regular summer season opener. South Jersey tallied the first goal of the match on a through ball which found Boca GK Sean Grayson (Middlesex County College) 1v1 with a SJ forward who placed the ball to the far post for the only goal of the first half. South Jersey scored two more unanswered goals in the second half before Boca’s Bobby Hurl (Kutztown University) buried a low shot assisted by Nick Gkionis (Stevens Tech). Jon Curry Edwards (St Rose HS), who will attend Old Dominion University in September, was between the pipes for Boca in the second half. “Although we came out on the short end on the scoreboard, I was happy with our overall performance against this high-quality opponent. We wanted to get comfortable with each other and we did that. We’ll work on finding the right combinations on the field” mentioned Boca U23 Coach Walt Konopka. “We did some very good things and we have to work on some others. We hit the crossbar once and the post twice. They finished their chances and we could not. We will also need work on that. It was a good game” Konopka finished. The Boca U23s will participate in the Mid-Atlantic Soccer Showcase League which kicks-off the season on June 5th.

BOCA U16s – Super Y-League (1-1-0):
The Boca U16s traveled to Winslow Township Monday night for a re-match with their NJ rivals the South Jersey Barons. Both sides met five days earlier at the Manchester Soccer Complex with Boca coming out on top with a 5-4 OT win. On Monday, Boca’s adrenaline seemed to carry over as Boca went up 1-0 in the first minute of the match on a goal by Stanley Touze assisted by Joseph Sorrentino. However, luck seemed to turn in favor of the Barons from then. The Boca U16s controlled much of the match and hit the post twice and crossbar once but could not put the ball in the net. Sorrentino tallied the final goal for Boca assisted by Varlee Koon, but that could not match the 4 goals tallied by their opponents.
