U18s Go 1-1-0 at the CASL Raleigh Shootout
November 18, 2002

The Jersey Shore Boca U18 men’s team recorded a win and a loss on Saturday at the CASL Raleigh Shootout in Raleigh, NC. All tournament games were cancelled on Sunday due to the weather and field conditions.

Boca started out with an impressive 2-1 win over powerful host CASL Premier(NC) in the first match of the day on Saturday morning. Boca jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead before allowing one in the second half.

As field conditions deteriorated, Boca took the pitch on Saturday afternoon against the Mt. Pleasant Soccer Club(SC).

Although Boca controlled possession of the ball for most of the game and out shot their opponents 12-5, Mt. Pleasant tallied the only goal of the game late in the first half for a 1-0 Boca loss.

Despite the weather and poor field conditions, the Boca U18s drew quite a bit of attention from the large contingent of college coaches who attended this event. The sidelines of both Boca games on Saturday were packed with coaches and scouts from all levels.

The Boca U18 team returns to action this Saturday and Sunday when they will participate in the Hamilton College Showcase in Trenton, NJ.
