Boca Continues Player Development Program Series For Summer

Sessions will continue to provide an open environment of proper skill learning geared toward youth players

BERKELEY TWP (July 13, 2010) – The Jersey Shore Boca Soccer Club in conjunction with its affiliated partner clubs, Berkeley Soccer Association and Lakewood Soccer Club, is pleased to announce that the club will continue their Player Development Program series of training for youth soccer players and will hold two summer sessions for boys and girls from ages 8 to 13 years old.

The Boca Player Development Program focuses on developing the individual player’s skills, comfort and confidence with the ball which is critical to their continued development in soccer.

The program also mixes in balance, coordination and agility training to provide the participants a well rounded athletic experience.

Boca’s Player Development Program is open to the general public regardless of any participant’s current club affiliation.

The 8 to 11 year-old Player Development Program summer session will begin on Thursday July 29 and run for four weeks until August 26 (excluding August 12) and will be held at the Berkeley Soccer Complex on Eastern Boulevard in Berkeley Township.

The 8 and 9 year old boys and girls age group will begin at 6:00pm while the 10 and 11 year olds will start immediately following at 7:00pm.

Registration fee for either session will be $50 per participant which includes four training sessions with Jersey Shore Boca staff, coaches and players plus an official Jersey Shore Boca Player Development Program t-shirt.

“In my 20 years of youth soccer training, coaching and observation, I have found that most programs focus on the individual needs of its teams, and focus less on the individual needs of its players. Our Boca Player Development Program provides an open environment of learning focused on the individual’s development, so that each player can have the necessary skills, comfort and confidence to perform at, or above, their team level, now and into the future” mentioned Guy Lockwood, President of Jersey Shore Boca who will coordinate the program.

Lockwood, who played professionally for several years with the North Jersey Imperials of the USISL after a standout career at Monmouth University finished by adding “Jersey Shore Boca is excited to have our partners, Berkeley Soccer Association and Lakewood Soccer Club, support this effort. We look forward to a fantastic program which will certainly benefit anyone who attends.”

Boca’s first Player Development Program series of sessions for youth soccer players began in the spring with enormous success.

Plans for additional Player Development Program sessions for the fall and winter will be announced at a later date.

The Jersey Shore Boca Soccer Club has been a fixture in the soccer community since 1978 and is one of the oldest and most respected soccer clubs on the East Coast.

Boca is celebrating their 32-year anniversary in 2010.
