FT. DIX, NJ – The Jersey Shore Boca U23 men’s soccer team split their two final regular season Mid-Atlantic Summer Showcase League games on Sunday as they defeated the Winslow Soccer Club 2-1 and lost 2-0 to AC Perugia from Lancaster, PA at the Doughboy Loop Fields at Ft. Dix.

In the first game on Sunday against Winslow, Cody Peters opened the scoring for Boca in the 8th minute when he took a one-touch feed from the left side about 12 yards out from Bucknell University sophomore Mark Schmiegel.
Peters, who will begin his senior year at LaSalle University in September after transferring from Drew University earlier this year, collected the ball and buried his first goal of the season to the far post which was the only scoring by either team in the first half.
After a miscue by the Boca defenders the 75th minute which allowed Winslow to tie the score, Jay Mancuso tallied his team leading 11th goal of the season in stoppage time when Stevens Tech junior Versh Tivzend a started a quick counter attack at midfield and played Mancuso a ball behind the Winslow defenders.
Mancuso, who played in 16 games at Central Connecticut State University last year, beat the Winslow keeper one-on-one to the near post to record his second game winner of the summer just before the game ended.
In the second match of the day with Boca resting several key players due to injuries and missing a few others due to personal commitments, Perugia scored the first goal from 25 yards out in the 35th minute which beat Boca keeper Jon Curry-Edwards high and to the upper left for the only score of the first half.
Perugia made the score 2-0 in the final minute of the game with a quick counter attack and beat Curry-Edwards one-on-one as Boca was pushing everyone forward trying the get the equalizer.
The Boca U23 team will end their 2006 summer season next Sunday July 30th as they compete for the MSSL Championship Cup at the new John F. Patrick Sports Complex in Lakewood Township, New Jersey.
