Boca Super Y Player Honored By NSCAA

John Rennie, a freshman at DeSales University and product of the Boca youth program under Coach Al Schwartz and member of the 2001 U18 Boca Super Y-League squad, was named to the Mid-Atlantic Regional All-Star Third Team by the NSCAA.

Center Valley, PA, (December 6, 2001) – DeSales University men’s soccer Freshman John Rennie (Cape May, NJ/Middle Township) was named to the 2001 Mid-Atlantic All Region Third Team as announced today by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

Rennie, who is the first player to earn All-Region honors at DeSales, led the team in scoring this season with 15 goals and two assists for 32 points. His 15 goals are the fourth highest total in a season at DeSales and the 32 points ranks fifth all-time for most points in a season. He earned Freedom Conference Player of the Week honors twice and recorded five game-winning goals in his inaugural season.

DeSales completed its season with a 12-8 overall record and qualified for the Freedom Conference Playoffs for the first time since joining the Conference in 1997 and for the first time since 1996 overall. The 12 wins marked the second most wins in a season in the program’s 33-year history.
