Delaware scores in 80th minute to take friendly match 1-0

LAKEWOOD, NJ (May 13, 2006) – The Jersey Shore Boca U23 men’s soccer team took on the Delaware Dynasty of the Premiere Development League (PDL) Saturday night in a full pre-season exhibition game under the lights at the new John Patrick Sports Complex in Lakewood.

After both sides battled scoreless for most of the game, Delaware scored the only goal of the match in the 80th minute with a thirty yard shot from the right side which bent inside the far post past Boca goalkeeper Dylan Hastings (Kean University).

“This was a pretty evenly matched game. Both sides had some good scoring opportunities which were not capitalized on. Their goal was off a very good shot. We all thought it was heading wide and then bent inside the far post at the last minute. Overall, our guys played very well tonight. It was a chance to take a look at some new players and great tune-up for our season” mentioned Walt Konopka the head coach of the Boca U23 team.

“We want to thank Delaware for making the trip and we wish them the best of success in their PDL season. We also would like to thank the Township of Lakewood for hosting this event for us at this wonderful new complex. The atmosphere was great” Konopka added.

The Delaware Dynasty kick-off their first season in the USL’s Premiere Development League on May 19th. They are coached by Fran Kulas.
