Two former Boca standouts, Teddy Niziolek from Seton Hall University and Nick Gkionis from Stevens Institute of Technology were named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Regional Teams announced last Wednesday.

TOMS RIVER, NJ (December 5, 2006) – Two former Jersey Shore Boca standouts, Teddy Niziolek (Clifton) from Seton Hall University and Nick Gkionis (Jackson) from Stevens Institute of Technology were named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Regional Teams announced last Wednesday.

Niziolek was named to the Division I Northeast Region First Team, while Gkionis earned a spot on the Division III Metro Region First Team.

Niziolek had a career-year as a senior, tallying five goals and four assists for a career-high 14 points. He scored two game-winners this year, including the overtime tally to help SHU rally for a 2-1 win at Georgetown.

He also showed his versatility and all-around soccer ability when he had to fill in on the backline for four games, during which the Pirates posted a pair of shutouts.

Niziolek started played in all 79 games of his career, starting 78 of them. The talented midfielder also earned All-BIG EAST Second Team honors after earning NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Region Third Team accolades as a junior.

The 2003 Clifton High School graduate was a member of the Boca U23 team this past summer that advanced to the semi-finals of the USASA U23 Regional Championship as well as the semi-finals of the MSSL Cup Championship.

Gkionis was named to the All-Metro first-team for the second-straight year after anchoring a Stevens’ defense that allowed only 15 goals in 2006.

The former Jackson Memorial High School standout ended his final season with nine goals and eight assists for 26 points.

He was a second-team All-Metro selection in 2004.

The Jackson Township native was a member of the Boca U23 and U20 teams during his college years as well a member of the Boca youth program and club’s Super Y-League teams earlier in his career.

Jersey Shore Boca had over fifty club standouts who previously played for Boca on either their Men’s, Super Y-League, PDL, Club or Youth teams that participated in NCAA intercollegiate soccer this fall for their respective institutions either as players or coaches.

Jersey Shore Boca has been a fixture in the soccer community since 1978 and is one of the most respected soccer clubs on the East Coast.

The Club is celebrating their 28-year anniversary in 2006.
