Chris Konopka has extended his stay in Ireland by signing a short-term deal with First Division team Sporting Fingal.
The 24-year-old will stay with the Dublin-based club for the remainder of the season after manager Liam Buckley decided to recruit the New Jersey native.
“Chris has signed with us for the rest of the season,” a club spokesman confirmed to YA.
Having spent last season with Bohemians, the athletic shot-stopper is already familiar with play in the League of Ireland and will provide back up to first-choice keeper Darren Quigley.
“He was on the bench for our last two games and will now fight for a first-team place.”
Konopka was an unused substitute for the recent win over Athlone Town and the tie with Waterford United.
With the season roughly two-thirds finished, the promotion-hunting Sporting are currently third in the First Division and face second-place UCD in a Dublin derby on Friday.
